IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SPEND TOO MUCH ON EDUCATION BECAUSE EVERY DOLLAR IS RETURNED TO THE TAXPAYER OR THE ECONOMY MANY TIMES OVER IN THE FORM OF SAVINGS ON OTHER GOV'T EXPENDITURES LIKE JAILS OR IN INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY.

TO MISSPEND OF COURSE IS EASY.

Unfortunately most school systems would love to have fat to cut. Instead they are forced to eliminate teaching positions and cut teaching staff. The News Hour ran a story the other night that examined the deleterious effects of state education funding reduction in Arizona that included a school in an affluent Tuscon suburb where the principal was also the cafeteria manager/custodian. If this is your idea of fat-cutting, I shudder to think of what lies in store for America's public school students in the "brave new world" of education that you envision.
