In its first venture into the world of K-12 education, EdX announced that it will release 26 free online courses covering AP and high school level material. The 26 courses are in the subjects of science, math, English and history. EdX is launching the MOOCs to give more high school students exposure to more challenging coursework.

In an article in the Summer 2014 issue of Education Next, Michael Horn wrote about the challenges of making MOOCs work for high school students.
