The annual convention of the National Education Association (NEA) begins on Wednesday, July 2 in Denver.  Dennis Van Roekel, who has served as the NEA president since 2008, will step down, and will (almost certainly) be replaced by Lily Eskelsen García, current vice president of the NEA.

Lily Eskelsen Garcia is profiled by Richard Colvin in the Summer 2014 issue of Education Next.
