City and state officials are looking into ways of reorganizing the school system in Detroit, and are getting advice from Paul Pastorek,  who helped turn around the school district in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

An article in the new issue of Ed Next by Robin Lake, Ashley Jochim and Michael DeArmond looks at Detroit’s problems and some possible solutions. In a blog entry, Lake and Jochim argue that what’s needed in Detroit is a portfolio manager.
