AltSchool, an education startup with schools in four locations and over $133 million in funding, will have ten school sites open in 2016, its founder says. AltSchool, which comes from “alternative school,” uses technology to personalize learning. Tuition at the school “varies by location, but is on par with private schools charging upwards of $20,000 per year.”

Michael Horn wrote about AltSchool and other micro-schools in the Summer 2015 issue of Education Next. He has also written about how micro-schools will compete with traditional private schools.
