In the Washington Times, David Wilezol reviews Endangering Prosperity: A Global View of the American School, by Eric A. Hanushek, Paul E. Peterson, and Ludger Woessman. The book, which explains why it matters that U.S. students are being outperformed by students in other countries, especially in math, includes evidence from a number of articles that have appeared in Education Next. One such article, “Is the U.S. Catching Up?” looks at learning gains made by students in 49 countries.
