The U.S. Department of Education is partnering with the NEA, the AFT, Teach for America, Microsoft, and other organizations to launch a public service campaign aimed at attracting high-achieving college graduates to a career in teaching.  As many as one million teachers may be retiring in the next 4-6 years.

A new study published by Education Next finds that the academic caliber of new teachers entering the profession with a bachelor’s degree  has risen substantially since the early 2000s.
