Jonathan Kozol’s new book, Fire in the Ashes, is reviewed by Wendy Kopp in the Washington Post. “The book would be more powerful if it were more current,” she notes, explaining that “readers will finish the book none the wiser about the progress that’s been made and the mounting evidence that there are systematic ways to put disadvantaged kids on a different trajectory in life.”

In the Spring 2006 issue of Ed Next, Marcus Winters dissected Kozol’s oeuvre in Savage Exaggerations, which “checked the facts” presented in five of Kozol’s earlier books.
