The first school to be overhauled under a “parent trigger” law will open on Monday, July 29. Desert Trails Preparatory Academy in Adelanto, Calif. was remade after parents voted to turn it over to a nonprofit group that runs a charter school in a nearby town, according to an article in Politico by Stephanie Simon.

On Friday, July 26, Rep. George Miller (D-CA) took part in a media call with Ben Austin of Parent Revolution, a nonprofit dedicated to organizing  parent trigger campaigns, and other parents to celebrate National Parents Day (July 28) and the efforts of parents to exercise their voice under parent trigger laws.
