The Washington Post previews a new book by Mike Petrilli that looks at the tough decisions faced by parents who want their children to attend diverse schools but who worry that their kids might not do well in a school where teachers need to focus on the needs of struggling, low-income children. In the Winter 2011 issue of Education Next, Mike wrote about a diverse school in Takoma Park, Maryland that is using both differentiated instruction and ability grouping to promote academic growth for all students in an integrated environment.

Perhaps the Supreme Court will give us all some things to think about?
Hard to hear the statistics…

… and not conclude that we have a lot more work to do.
