In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Paul Peterson and Eric Hanushek use data from 50 countries over 50 years to show how improvements in educational achievement lead to economic gains.

The op-ed is based on their new book, Endangering Prosperity: A Global View of the American School, co-authored with Ludger Woessmann. The authors discussed their book at an event at Brookings on September 11, Is Our Stagnant School System Endangering Our Future Prosperity?

Peterson and Hanushek described international and state trends in student achievement in an article appearing in the Fall 2012 issue of Education Next.
