The U.S. spends more than other developed nations on its students’ education, and brand-new and experienced teachers alike in the U.S. out-earn most of their counterparts around the globe, according to the OECD’s latest annual report, which was released Tuesday. Despite high levels of spending, U.S. students still trail their rivals on international tests, the report notes.

An analysis of test score gains made by students in 49 countries which was published in Ed Next last year found that students in the U.S. were not on track to close the global achievement gap.
