The Obama administration is pushing school turnarounds, but even mild changes (replacing the principal and taking other steps to change how the school operates) will qualify as turnaround efforts. An article by Emily Ayscue Hassel and Bryan Hassel in the Winter 2009 issue of Ed Next looked at what is known about successful turnaround efforts in other sectors.
