Prominent education reformer Ted Sizer passed away this week. Sizer was dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, headmaster of Phillips Academy, chairman of the education department at Brown, father of the Essential Schools movement, and author of many influential books and articles. In 2001, Ted and Nancy Sizer contributed an article to the inaugural issue of Education Next about the charter school they helped launch.
