		<description>Thanks for a thoughtful piece.  As someone who has worked closely with reporters over the years to encourage in-depth reporting of education I am worried that the reality of education reporting is even worse than you have described. Too many talented reporters have left the field and not been replaced.  And even if the reporters are there, there is no room in shrunken newspapers for them to do much in the way of in-depth reporting.  It&#039;s too bad - because education is America&#039;s story. Let&#039;s hope that Colvin and others engaged in new efforts to cover the field succeed.</description>
