    There are tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of young African American males, who can and will be successful contributing members of society when given academic and social support along with educational enrichment opportunities.

    Kaleem Caire is an outstanding example of what happens when a community responds to the crisis. I, too, am an example, having gone from a 1.9 GPA to a 3.9. I taught for 14 years and now train teachers around the country.
