This week, Doug Lemov, author of Teach Like a Champion, and Steven Farr, author of Teaching as Leadership, talk with Mike Petrilli about their efforts to identify what great teachers are doing in the classroom and to share these techniques with new teachers.
As Doug Lemov notes in the interview, both authors went out and tried to answer the question “what really works here?” not based on an ideology or a theory of what teaching should look like, but based on what successful teachers actually do.
In the interview, they also talk about why school reformers haven’t talked much about teaching and learning, and about how technology and data are making a deeper analysis of effective teaching possible.
