Toothless Reform????
How about a reform that has no money where it is needed. That is the reform we see in Indiana. We have less state money and the Federal money is giving us more Professional Development. Meaning the administration is going out to Phoenix to share in Educational Knowledge. Meanwhile our class size goes up and we turn out the lights in the hallways. This is reform???

People will criticize any education directives from Washington as a violation of states rights in one breath, then insist that Washington require fundamental reforms in order for states to be given money in the next breath.

For instance - people assert the common core state standards are a federal takeover of our schools in one breath - but that the US DOE must mandate implementation of NMAP recommendations in all states receiving funds in the next breath.

To quote famous ed reformer Woody Allen:

There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions."
