The New York Times looks at an intervention program in Providence, R.I., that tracks the words spoken to children via a digital word counter as part of an effort to increase the language skills of students from low-income families.

Mike Petrilli wrote about another approach to closing the language gap in “To Close the Opportunity Gap, We Need to Close the Vocabulary Gap.”
