What We’re Listening To: Universal Pre-K and Charter Schools in New York

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was on the Brian Lehrer show to discuss the back and forth between New York City and the state over funding pre-K for all children.

You can listen to the interview here.

They also discussed other education battles in the state like charter schools and Common Core standards. “I don’t think we should leave it up to a mayor whether or not charter schools are allowed to operate and to continue to grow, I believe we should have a state policy on that,” Cuomo told Lehrer.

Governor Cuomo’s opponents in these battles, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, is profiled by Peter Meyer in the new issue of Education Next.
