In American Promise,  a middle-class African-American couple who are documentary filmmakers tell the story of their son and his best friend as they attend Dalton, an elite private school in New York City with few other African-American students. The movie shows on Monday, February 3, 2014 on PBS and can be viewed online for free starting February 4.
