What We’re Watching: One New Orleans Senior Struggles to Graduate

NOLA.com ran a five-part series on an Sean Talley, an at-risk teenager from New Orleans trying to make it through high school.  This video tells his story.

In a study published in Education Next earlier this month, Doug Harris looks at the impact of school reforms on student achievement across the school district in New Orleans. He writes

The reforms seem to have moved the average student up by 0.2 to 0.4 standard deviations and boosted rates of high school graduation and college entry. We are not aware of any other districts that have made such large improvements in such a short time.
