A school district in rural Ohio was going to close its high school, Portsmouth East, but the community came together and formed a charter school to keep the facility open for their children.

This Fordham Foundation documentary  provides a look at the challenges and successes of a rural Appalachian charter school in southeast Ohio, the Sciotoville Community School.
