On Thursday, Oct. 2, AEI hosted Campbell Brown, founder of the Partnership for Educational Justice and former CNN news anchor, to discuss teacher tenure reform.
After a court in California overturned teacher tenure in Vergara v. California, Campbell Brown helped organize a similar lawsuit in New York.
Rick Hess (of AEI and Education Next) delivered the opening remarks.
Commentators have disagreed about whether the Vergara ruling was an appropriate use of judicial power. Josh Dunn and Martha Derthick have argued that the courts are not the right stage for this battle. Paul Peterson has argued that the Vergara ruling is not an abuse of judicial power.
