In Connecticut, parents rallied on the steps of the state capitol in Hartford “to call attention to charter and magnet school state funding discrepancies they see as unfair to their children.” Cheyenne Haslett writes
The group asked legislators to revise the school funding system so that all schools — charter, magnet and the districts hosting them — receive the same funding. The event was part of a campaign called Fight for Fairness, run through Families for Excellent Schools, an education group in Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut.
A study released by Education Next found that charter school parents, on average, are more satisfied with their children’s schools than are district-school parents.
